Well here's the person that can help. I contacted him and here's what he had to say:
Bob
I have good color copies of 1951-54 Chevy truck chips,
and now have chips going back to 1936 that I can copy. Most colors
were used multiple years, so there is good coverage of earlier and later
trucks. I converted original PPG
numbers from 1936 to 1955 to currently mixable PPG numbers.
Also included are interior colors in currently mixable numbers, and copies
of my paint prep articles published in This Old Truck magazine.
I have owned a restoration shop for 28 years and do body work and painting
myself. I attend PPG paint school every other year for refresher
courses to stay updated. The
procedures I recommend are the overall best for restoration
according to the paint manufacturer and my years of experience, including
my own experiments with extended outside storage. I sell with a money
back guaranty, but have never had a return on paint sheets. I also
have similar info for GMC, with nice chips for 1951-54, as well as many
other years
Price is $20. State year of truck and whether Chevy
or GMC Send to

ADVANCE DESIGN RADIO:
Advance Design Radio Service:
Are you looking to find an original Advance Design radio for you truck? Do you know what to look for to separate you radio from an Old mobile radio or other brand that may be passed off as an AD radio?
We'll, I've been searching the net for help of identifying the original Advance Design Radio's along with finding someone with the experience and skill required to return one to operating status. I think that I've found such a person in
Mr. William Hulbert who restores radio's for a major Chevrolet Parts Supplier.
I contacted Mr. Hulbert and asked for assistance in helping me to distinguish the Chevrolet radio from other models and here's what I received as a reply:
Thank you for your E-mail :
There are two different types of radios for 47-53 Chevrolet trucks. The 47- 49 model 986067 brown hammer finish, larger slant back cover, half the case, model number on oval tag on bottom of radio, will also have date on this tag. The 50-53 model 986443 natural steel color , flat square back, model number on paper tag on the inside of back. All original Chevy truck radios have "Chevrolet" on the dial, watch out for Olds mobile radios that people try to pass off for truck radios, they will not fit the dash! 54-early 55 model 986771 smaller than 47-53 no push buttons, rectangular dial, speaker out side of case but mounted above dial off center. Again watch out for people tying to pass off 55-56 passenger car manual tuning radios for truck radios.
So if your looking to restore that radio contact Mr. William Hulbert
E-mail [ radio_29chevy@yahoo.com ]
I restore radios and give a 1 year guarantee, guarantee
would start after you've finish your project, got the
radio in and driving your car/truck
A common Chevrolet automobile radio model is 985793 for years 1946/47.
